Seahawks Sign Ponder, Cut Mann

The Seattle Seahawks have signed free agent wide receiver Willie Ponder, the team announced this afternoon.

Ponder spent three seasons with the New York Giants after being selected in the sixth-round (199th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played in 26 career games being used primarily as a kickoff returner and led the NFL in 2004 with a 26.9 kickoff return average.

He has returned 71 career kickoffs for 1,872 yards (26.4 avg.) with a long of 95t and two touchdowns and has eight career receptions for 38 yards (4.8 avg.) with a long of 16.

To make room on the 53-man roster, Seattle waived wide receiver Maurice Mann.
