Seahawks Re-Sign Bernard & Warrick!

From Mike Sando at The News Tribune:

The Seattle Seahawks are taking a more aggressive tack after sitting out the first few days of NFL free agency.

Defensive tackle Rocky Bernard and receiver Peter Warrick are expected to return to Seattle after reaching contract agreements today.

And while team president Tim Ruskell was meeting today with New York Jets defensive end John Abraham, the organization lined up a free-agent visit with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Julian Peterson.

The Jets have allowed Abraham, their franchise player, to seek potential trading partners after the sides failed to reach agreement on a long-term contract. Abraham visited Washington previously. Atlanta and Denver are also reportedly interested.

Peterson's first free-agent visit will be with the Seahawks. A former Pro Bowl player, Peterson returned last season from a torn Achilles' tendon. Peterson, 27, has 21 1/2 sacks in six NFL seasons.

Bernard, 26, spent Tuesday visiting the Kansas City Chiefs before reaching agreement with Seattle today. His contract is for three years and $13 million, with a signing bonus of $5.4 million, ESPN.com reported. Bernard had 8 1/2 sacks through 11 games last season. He added two sacks against Carolina in the NFC title game.

Warrick, 28, agreed to terms on a one-year deal, his agent said. He has 11 receptions in each of the last two seasons. He caught 79 passes for Cincinnati in 2003 before a knee injury derailed his career. Warrick's knee improved as last season progressed.
