Seahawks Re-Sign Bentley & Tafoya

From Seahawks.net:

Tafoya, a five-year veteran, participated in 15 games last season posting 14 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. He was a key backup to starting defensive ends Bryce Fisher and Grant Wistrom and helped the Seahawks defense lead the league in sacks and it was assumed that he would eventually be re-signed by the team.

Details of the contract are unknown at this time.

In 2005, the Seahawks signed Bentley as a free agent from the Cleveland Browns for a one-year $600,000 contract and got their money’s worth as the fourth-year veteran posted 22 tackles in a reserve role.

He started three games for injured starter D.D. Lewis and participated in 15 of the 16 regular season games. Bentley’s versatility was put to the test when he was asked to help cover Pro Bowl WR Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers during the NFC Championship Game.

After testing the free agent market with visits to the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals, Bentley and his agent reach agreement on a two-year deal worth $1.5 million including an unconfirmed signing-bonus.
