Chris Warren Sentenced to 5 Years Probation

From Peter Lewis at the Seattle Times:

A federal judge today sentenced former NFL running back Chris Warren, the Seahawks' career rushing leader, to five years' probation for failure to pay child support on behalf of two children he fathered with a Washington woman.

Warren was also ordered to get current by Feb. 1, 2006, or face the possibility of further sanctions.

Warren, 38, hadn't made court-ordered, $5,000-a-month payments for almost two years and owed more than $128,000 when the government filed charges in October. Warren played for the Seahawks from 1990 to 1997 and retired from the NFL in 2002 after a 12-year career during which he earned more than $9.7 million.

In court today, the mother of his two daughters, Monique Mulloy, told U.S. Magistrate Judge John Weinberg that Warren's failure to keep up with his payments had been financially devastating. "I want him to be held accountable and to do the right thing," she said.
