Brewers Lose 2-3 in 9th Inning

The Brewers tied the score 2-2 just after Wood departed when Lyle Overbay homered on the second pitch from Glendon Rusch, a drive that just reached the bleachers in left-center.

Jeromy Burnitz walked against Julio Santana (1-2) leading off the ninth, took second on Todd Walker's single -- that was nearly caught by center fielder Brady Clark -- and scored on Hollandsworth's second RBI single of the game.

"In that situation there's no room for error," Santana said. "It wasn't way inside, but it was a quality pitch."

Roberto Novoa (2-1), the Cubs fifth pitcher, threw a scoreless ninth.

Sheets gave up two runs and six hits in six innings, striking out five and walking one.

The Brewers will try to avoid a sweep Thursday as Chris Capuano (7-6) goes up against Greg Maddux (7-4).
